A Dream Come True?

Or

A Nightmare in the Making?

Rylly Barr’s long awaited dream is about to become a reality. Despite numerous mishaps including robbery and attempted murder, the grand opening of the Southern Comfort Cooking School and Restaurant is a rousing success until Bobby Spence, a television chef, tastes the Trinidad Chicken, clutches his throat, falls to his knees and dies at Rylly’s feet.

Rylly is still reeling from Bobby’s death when she discovers the deed to an island in a hidden drawer in her husband’s dresser. The island consists of an island, a mansion house and forty-seven men, women and children, forty-seven very angry men, women and children who were given notice of eviction by her deceased husband. Rylly wonders if they are behind the murderous problems that seem to haunt her footsteps. When Mac Jamison’s new partner decides that Rylly must be guilty of Bobby’s murder, Rylly and Kohler must find the killer while juggling the grand opening of her culinary school, a student who’s life is being threatened, and an island psychic who makes vague prophecies that no one understands until they come true. Can Rylly find a diabolical killer who has marked her down as his next victim.

Murder Carves a Pumpkin

After years of diabolical practical jokes at the hands of her father and twin brothers, Rylly Barr shudders at the very thought of Halloween. But her beloved nephew, Kohler signs her up to help with his school’s Halloween carnival. Even though Rylly feels like killing him, the carnival is to fund scholarships for disabled students, a cause close to Rylly’s heart.

But not everyone wants the carnival to succeed. Four teachers, led by Mr. McPherson, the bane of every student’s existence, threaten their students with poor grades if they participate. The school board turns hostile and several someones are determined to stop the carnival. Hate and anger divide the students. Kohler and his friends, tired of the vandalism move everything to Rylly’s storeroom but that triggers more acts of violence.

When Rylly finds Mr. MacPherson in his classroom, his head bashed in by his iron horse statue, suspicion falls on Kohler and his friends. When homicide detective Rachel Kirk homes in on Kohler, Rylly must put aside her fear of Halloween, put on her Sherlock Holmes costume and find the truth behind MacPherson’s murder.

Can she save Kohler and the Halloween Carnival before Rachel makes a hideous mistake.

Murder Carves a Pumpkin

Murder Carves a Pumpkin

Rylly hates Halloween with every fiber of her being.
Her nephew volunteers her to help with the Halloween fundraiser.
A recipe for disaster or something worse?
Due to the many traumatic pranks Rylly’s older brothers played on her when she was a child, she has a near phobia about Halloween. But when her nephew and his friends decide to hold a Halloween fundraiser so that the scholarship students can stay in school, she swallows her fear and agrees to help.
But Mr. MacPherson with his tests from hell has another idea. An idea that ratchets up the hate and discontent already rampant in the school. When he turns up dead right after he attacks Geraldine Smith, Homicide Detective, Lt. Rachel Kirk arrests John Walters, a close friend. As far as Rylly is concerned, this is a declaration of war.
When a student and a teacher disappear during the Halloween Carnival, Rylly must put aside her fears and discover who is behind Mr. MacPherson’s murder, the kidnapping and a bomb threat. Can she save the spook alley, the scholarship program and the holiday she hates?

A squirrelly aunt

A missing rare coin

Rylly Barr has been looking forward to Christmas Vacation but Thanksgiving is barely over when a fire puts one of Kohler’s best friends in the hospital in a coma. Rylly begins to panic when Kohler and his friend, Scott quit eating because they are so worried about CamiSue.

Remembering some research she read about helping people in a coma, she meets with Nathan Mathews, CamiSue’s yummy, single doctor who agrees to let Kohler and Scott do homework with her in the hopes that they can help her come out of the coma.

When someone starts shooting at Kohler and Scott, Rylly decides that there was more to the fire than arson. As her romance with Dr. Mathews heats up, can Rylly keep her mind off her heart and find who started the fire, who put CamiSue in a coma and who keeps shooting at her nephew before the bullets do more than put a hole in Kohler’s geology book.

A Student in Trouble

Missing Chocolates

Valentine’s Day will never be the same

Rylly is sure she won’t survive Valentine’s Day. Her boyfriend is missing in action. She’s agreed to do another fund raiser, this time to help a boy get the surgery he needs, her first cooking class students are graduating, and there’s a dead body on her kitchen floor.

If having a dead body on the kitchen floor isn’t enough, her close cop friend Mac has suddenly lost his mind. Even though she has an alibi for the murder, he keeps twisting her testimony so that she looks guilty. Then she wipes out her knee and has to have emergency surgery. At least, she’s in the same hospital room as her nephew Kohler who got hit on the temple with a basketball.

While she’s in the hospital, the pressure cooker of her life reaches her ‘Popeye’ limit—the “It’s all I can stands, I can’t stands no more” limit. Can Rylly take back her life, and her school, without losing her knee, her mind or her life. Murder Sends Chocolate in a fun read in the Culinary School Series.
